Pepto Bismol Ultra contains bismuth subsalicylate for relief of heartburn, indigestion, nausea, upset stomach and diarrhoea. This is a concentrated formula, so the dose differs from the original — read the Drug Facts label and do not assume the same spoonful. It contains a salicylate, so do not use it if you are allergic to aspirin or are taking other salicylates, and do not give it to children or teenagers who have or are recovering from chicken pox or flu-like symptoms. It may turn the tongue or stools temporarily black, which is harmless. Read the entire Drug Facts label before use and follow the directions on it. Keep out of reach of children. If symptoms persist or worsen, stop use and ask a doctor. If you are pregnant, nursing, taking other medicines or treating a child, ask a doctor or pharmacist first.
